Oliver Bearman Joins PREMA For 2022 F3 Season

PREMA have announced that Oliver Bearman will join the team for the 2022 FIA F3 Season.

This move comes after a stunning 2021 season for Great Britain born Bearman who achieved a rare Italian and ADAC F4 title double for Van Amersfoort Motorsport, .

Bearman went on to participate in the 2021 FIA F3 post-season test for PREMA in which he enjoyed a strong three-day programme, during which he finished sixth fastest on the second day.

“I’m really looking forward to stepping-up to FIA F3 with PREMA, as my first official year being part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.” said Bearman of his move up to F3 with the Italian outfit who have taken Robert Shwartzman, Oscar Piastri and Dennis Hauger to the title in last three seasons.

Reflecting on PREMA’s strong F3 record and the post-season test, Bearman added: “We worked really well together in the post season test at Valencia, and their results in previous years across everything which they do, speaks for itself. I can’t wait to get started in Bahrain!”

PREMA Team Principal, Rene Rosin is “looking forward” to welcoming Bearman to the team in 2022 and spoke highly of the 16 year-old’s record in junior categories so far despite racing for PREMA’s rival teams.

“The results he achieved this year speak for themselves, and we have obviously been observing him as rivals.” admitted Rosin who is known for monitoring progress of top young drivers in rival teams with a view to bring them to PREMA as they climb the ladder further.

Rosin though has urged caution on expectations of Bearman as he explained: “The step for him will be huge and particularly challenging, with a lot to learn, but we will do everything we can to help him maximize his potential and be competitive right from the start.”

“It will be extremely interesting to see the season develop, and what we will be able to accomplish together.”

Bearman graduated to single-seater racing in 2020 and has gone on to claim 20 wins in total across two campaigns in ADAC & Italian F4 plus 2021 GB3 season, on top of 15 further podium finishes which saw him join Ferrari’s Driver Academy in November 2021.
