McLaren’s Lando Norris has vowed that the team will “be giving it our all” in the final two races of the 2021 Formula One season.

A run of just four points from the last three races has seen McLaren slip to fourth in the constructors’ standings with a 39.5 point deficit to Ferrari with just two races left of this season, whilst Norris slipped to fifth in the driver standings with his hopes of finishing third now looking bleak.

Norris however isn’t ruling anything out as he optimistically said: “We’re going to be giving it our all right up until the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi, to finish in the best possible position in both championships.”

Looking ahead to this weekend’s inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, Norris though is hopeful of a “fun” weekend on what he described as “a really fast and flowing track with close walls,” which he believes will add a “very cool” but “unique challenge” to the weekend.

Teammate, Daniel Ricciardo meanwhile felt that last month’s triple-header was “ultimately disappointing”, although he is unsure on what he can expect in Jeddah despite “working hard” to prepare for the race at the factory.

McLaren Team Principal, Andreas Seidl added that both Norris and Ricciardo have had time in the simulator to learn the circuit and praised the team for their hard work in preparation, despite suffering a knock in morale after a difficult triple-header but hopes for two final “intense and exciting” races.
