2021-22 Premier League: Week 14 – Wolves v Burnley

Wolves look to continue their chase for a top six finish as they welcome Burnley to Molineux in a midweek Premier League clash.

With Arsenal not in action until Thursday, victory would see Wolves climb to sixth for 24 hours at a minimum.

Burnley meanwhile can climb out of the relegation zone with a win if Leeds lose at home to Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening.

Ruben Neves is suspended for Wolves after collecting his fifth booking of the season in Saturday’s goalless draw at Norwich.

Jonny, Pedro Neto (both knee), Yerson Mosquera and Hugo Bueno (both hamstring), Willy Boly (muscle) and Daniel Podence (Coronavirus) remain absent.

Burnley will be without James Tarkowski and Ashley Westwood after the pair picked up their fifth bookings of the season against Crystal Palace in their last Premier League outing.

Ashley Barnes (thigh) remain ruled out.

Prediction

Wolves certainly have work to do in order to improve because they were completely outplayed at Norwich on Saturday, despite growing into the game throughout although their defence were slow to react to attacks and close down gaps in their back lines despite feeling the effects of Storm Arwen.

Burnley meanwhile will be coming into this game fairly fresh after their clash against Burnley was postponed shortly before kick-off, yet their defending will need to improve because they were a mess against Palace despite showing strong attacking spirit to fight back for a draw.

On that note, I can see goals coming here given the recent form of both teams but if Burnley can sort out their defensive issues and continue to improve their goal threat, they could well edge this clash if are clinical across the pitch.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Burnley

Result: Wolves 0-0 Burnley
