Jacob Brown Receives Maiden Call-Up For Scotland’s 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Against Moldova and Denmark

Jacob Brown has received his maiden call-up for Scotland ahead of crunch 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark.

Brown’s call-up comes after the 23 year-old has impressed for Stoke City this season with four goals in 15 appearances this season across all competitions.

Manager, Steve Clarke has meanwhile recalled Zander Clark to the goalkeeper section in place of Motherwell’s Liam Kelly who drops out, as Craig Gordon and Jon McLaughlin retain their places in the squad.

Clarke also has named unchanged defensive and midfield selections with Nathan Patterson, Andrew Robertson, Billy Gilmour and John McGinn amongst those to retain their places in the squad.

Scotland currently sit second in Group F and know that if Austria beat Israel on 12 November, they would secure the play-off spot regardless of their result away in Moldova that same evening, although victory would definitely see the Tartan Army finish second even if Israel beat Austria.

Should Israel beat Austria and Scotland slip up in Moldova then Clarke’s Tartan Army must beat Denmark at Hampden Park on 15 November to secure a play-off spot and hope that Israel suffer a surprise home loss to Faroe Islands in Netanya.

Here is Scotland’s 25-man squad in full to face Moldova and Denmark on 12 and 15 November respectively.

Goalkeeper: Zander Clark (St Johnstone), Craig Gordon (Hearts), Jon McLaughlin (Rangers)

Defence: Liam Cooper (Leeds United), Grant Hanley (Norwich), Jack Hendry (Oostende), Scott McKenna (Nottingham Forest), Stephen O’Donnell (Motherwell), Nathan Patterson (Rangers), Andrew Robertson (Liverpool), Kieran Tierney (Arsenal)

Midfield: Stuart Armstrong (Southampton), Lewis Ferguson (Aberdeen), Billy Gilmour (Chelsea), John McGinn (Aston Villa), Callum McGregor (Celtic), Kenny McLean (Norwich City), Scott McTominay (Manchester United), David Turnbull (Celtic), Ryan Christie (Bournemouth)

Forward: Che Adams (Southampton), Jacob Brown (Stoke City), Lyndon Dykes (QPR), Kevin Nisbet (Hibernian), Ryan Fraser (Newcastle United)
