Sky Sports have confirmed nine festive Sky Bet Championship matches selected for live broadcast across 17 December 2021 – 3 January 2022.
Sky will kick off their festive offerings across the second tier with Valerien Ismael’s return to Oakwell in Friday Night Football on 17 December, as West Brom visit Barnsley for the first time since poaching him as manager this summer.
Ismael’s replacement at the Yorkshire club, Markus Schopp however was sacked just hours before Sky announced their festive picks.
Middlesbrough meanwhile will host Bournemouth on 18 December in a 12:30pm kick-off at the Riverside Stadium, whilst Craven Cottage will host the final match before Xmas Day as Fulham face Sheffield United and former manager – Slavisa Jokanovic on Monday 20 December.
Sky’s sole Boxing Day clash sees Barnsley host Stoke before Derby meet West Brom at Pride Park in a Midlands derby on Bank Holiday Monday 27 December, which forms the first of a double-header alongside QPR’s home tie against Bournemouth in 3pm and 5:30pm kick-offs respectively.
The final Championship match of 2021 sees Huddersfield visit Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Thursday 30 December.
2022 sees the second-tier action start with a bang as Sheffield United welcome Middlesbrough to Bramall Lane in a 12:30pm kick-off, as Neil Warnock’s Boro face his former team in what could be a key clash in the play-off race come the New Year.
The New Year action concludes at the Liberty Stadium on Monday 3 January as Swansea play host to Fulham in a 3pm kick-off.
