Ian Baraclough has named a 26-man squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup away qualifiers against Switzerland and Bulgaria in October 2021.
Baraclough has retained his experienced goalkeeping selection of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Trevor Carson and Conor Hazard.
In defence, Jonny Evans and Stuart Dallas return after sitting out last month’s internationals with late call-up players like Ciaron Brown, Tom Flanagan and Michael Smith retaining their places in the squad.
An unchanged midfield selection sees Steven Davis, Paddy McNair and Conor Bradley amongst those to retain their places in the squad, as Corry Evans also returns after withdrawing through injury from September’s international fixtures..
Baraclough has likewise named an unchanged striker selection as Josh Magennis, Conor Washington, Shayne Lavery and Dion Charles all receive call-ups, although Magennis did have to withdraw from this month’s fixtures due to injury and was replaced by Kyle Lafferty.
Northern Ireland will visit Switzerland on Saturday 9 October (7:45pm BST) in a crunch clash in the battle for a spot in the qualification Play-Offs.
Baraclough’s men will visit Bulgaria three days later on 12 October (7:45pm BST) in Sofia which could be another crucial match, depending on their result against Switzerland in Geneva.
