2021-22 Premier League: Week Six – Leicester vs Burnley

Leicester look to halt their two match winless run in the Premier League as they welcome relegation battling Burnley to King Power Stadium.

Victory could lift Leicester as high as seventh, whereas Burnley could climb out of the relegation zone with a win as long as Leeds and Newcastle lose elsewhere.

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns to report from Wednesday’s Carabao Cup victory at Millwall, as Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy feature amongst various players who are looking for a recall after being rested in midweek.

James Justin (knee) and Wesley Fofana (leg) remain ruled out.

Burnley could be without Josh Brownhill after the midfielder missed Tuesday’s comeback Carabao Cup win over Rochdale with a dead leg.

Wayne Hennessey (ankle) is a doubt but Connor Roberts (groin/thigh), Dale Stephens (ankle) and Kevin Long (calf) remain absent.

Prediction

Brendan Rogers should be worried about how his Leicester side have failed to ignite during the first half in their last two matches, simply because they cannot more slow starts to matches as they were lucky to get away from Millwall with a win and clean sheet after being caught out at Brighton last Sunday.

One positive though is that Rogers’ Foxes seem to find their attacking spark after half-time so the challenge here has to be to find that edge earlier and maintain it throughout the match, especially if they’re to mount another serious challenge for a top four finish.

Burnley meanwhile are winless in the league this season but delivered an excellently disciplined performance against Arsenal last weekend, despite poor end product costing them a point but they looked to had corrected that against Rochdale in midweek so should look to build on that improvement here.

On gut instinct alone, I genuinely don’t expect a classic here but if Leicester can score in the first half, I do fancy them to push on here and extend Burnley’s winless run at the King Power Stadium to 11 matches.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Burnley

Result: Leicester 2-2 Burnley
