2021-22 UEFA Champions League Group Stage: Week One – Young Boys vs Manchester United

Young Boys welcome Manchester United to Stadion Wankdorf, Bern, Switzerland in the opening Group F encounter.

With Villarreal and Atalanta not in action until later on Tuesday evening, victory for either Young Boys or Man Utd could put them top for at least two hours.

Young Boys have no fresh injury concerns to report after thrashing Zurich 4-0 on Saturday.

Fabian Lustenberger, Jean-Pierre Nsame (both Achilles), Joel Monteiro, Esteban Petignat (both knee) and Nico Maier (muscle) are ruled out.

Man Utd will be without Edinson Cavani as he continues to build his match fitness, following a minor knock.

Dean Henderson, Phil Jones (both fitness), Alex Telles (ankle), Scott McTominay (groin), Amad Diallo (thigh) and Marcus Rashford (shoulder) remain absent.

Prediction

Young Boys have been very consistent in the Swiss Super League this season under ex Huddersfield manager, David Wagner, which should mean that they won’t be expected pushovers unlike their last meeting here three years ago despite keeping one clean sheet in Qualifying this season in this competition.

Man Utd meanwhile looked fantastic in their defending and movement on the ball with a strong energy and clinical finishing against Newcastle on Saturday, of which I can’t see them letting slip here if can get on the front foot quickly.

Prediction: Young Boys 0-3 Manchester United

Result: Young Boys 2-1 Manchester United
