Norwich City have announced that Daniel Farke will remain as manager after extending his contract in a new four-year deal until June 2025.
Since arriving in summer 2017, Farke has guided Norwich to promotion from Sky Bet Championship to Premier League in two of last three seasons, although the Canaries were relegated after just one season back in the top flight in 2019-20 campaign.
Speaking to canaries.co.uk after signing his new contract, Farke admitted to feeling “absolutely over the moon” yet “pretty emotional” to be handed a new contract extension as a massive sign of the club’s “trust and support.”
On extending his stay at Carrow Road, Farke said: “It is a pleasure to be allowed to continue to work on this level with such a special club and our unbelievable owners, Delia and Michael.
“I must also thank Stuart Webber for his trust and backing, my staff and players, as well as the supporters. We have a pretty special relationship in this club.
Farke however is already looking ahead to the future as he seeks to keep Norwich up this season and convert them into “an established Premier League side.”
The German also revealed his positivity about where the club and senior team are heading into the new campaign, commenting: “We’re in a much better position, both as a club and as a group, and we want to continue to build something unique and special.”
Norwich City’s Sporting Director, Stuart Webber hailed Farke’s decision to stay as “great news” for the club after spending the off-season working on retaining Farke and his coaching team – Eddie Riemer, Chris Domogalla and Christopher John who have also signed new deals.
Webber noted the ongoing unpredictability of the world beyond just football and believes that Farke’s new contract will provide important “stability and security” at Carrow Road moving forward.
Explaining on why the club decided to retain Farke and future plans, Webber said: “Daniel fully understands the club and what we’re about. He buys into all facets of what we’re doing here and has played a leading role in getting us to this position.
“We can now look forward to our plans for the season ahead, knowing that we have the future of our head coach and staff secured. It’s an exciting period for us with a view to what comes next.”
Norwich will commence their 2021-22 season at home to Liverpool live on Sky Sports on Saturday 14 August 2021 in a 5:30pm kick-off.
