2020-21 Premier League: Week 37 – Everton vs Wolves

Everton welcome Wolves to Goodison Park in a midweek Premier League clash.

Victory would see Everton stay eighth as they chase a top six finish, whereas Wolves could look to consolidate 12th with a win.

Yerry Mina is a doubt for Everton after failing to recover from an adductor injury in time for Sunday’s defeat to Sheffield United.

Joshua King (back) and Jean-Philippe Gbamin (knee) are ruled out.

Wolves could welcome Owen Otasowie back from a knock which kept him out of Sunday’s loss at Tottenham.

Jonny, Pedro Neto (both knee) Daniel Podence (adductor) and Raul Jimenez (head) are ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Everton are unbeaten in four of their last six meetings against Wolves (W2, D2, L2).
  • Wolves have won just one of six previous Premier League trips to Goodison Park (W1, D2, L3).
  • All four penalties in this Premier League fixture has been scored, with Everton scoring their only penalty to Wolves’ three spot-kicks.
  • Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has lost 126 of his 264 aerial duels in the Premier League this season.
  • Conor Coady is the only Wolves’ player to have made two last man tackles this season.

Prediction

Although their bid for a top four finish is definitely over after Sunday’s lacklustre performance in their loss to Sheffield Utd, Everton really need a strong clinical display to keep themselves in with a shot of Europa League football.

Wolves meanwhile were undone by sharp creative play at Tottenham which caught their defence out, but they otherwise delivered a solid effort on Sunday but just lacked the end product to create goals on the attack.

This therefore should be an interesting game because if Everton continue their awful home form and Wolves can build on Sunday’s performance, I can see an away win coming but the visitors have often been inconsistent so a draw would be a fair result.

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Wolves

Result: Everton 1-0 Wolves
