2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week 44 – Tuesday

Brentford welcome Rotherham to Brentford Community Stadium in Tuesday’s rearranged Sky Bet Championship clash.

Victory will see Thomas Frank’s Bees move four points clear in third, thus boosting their bid to claim home advantage in the second leg of the post-season play-offs.

Rotherham meanwhile can move to within a point of safety with a win and still have a game in hand on their relegation rivals.

Pontus Jansson is suspended for Brentford after being red carded in Saturday’s 1-0 away win at Bournemouth.

Josh Dasilva (hip), Rico Henry (hamstring), Henrik Dalsgaard and Shandon Baptiste (both knee) remain sidelined.

Rotherham could be without goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson after the Swede suffered an eye injury in Saturday’s loss at Barnsley.

Clark Robertson (unspecified) is also considered a doubt.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have won four of their last six meetings against Rotherham (W4, L2), of which all four victories came in their last four clashes.
  • Rotherham are visiting the Brentford Community Stadium for the very first time, although they have lost all four previous Championship away trips to the Bees (L4).
  • Just one of Brentford’s last 11 league goals against Rotherham have come from the penalty spot.
  • Rotherham have lost three of their last four matches by 1-0 results.
  • Ten of Brentford’s 16 draws this season in all competitions have come at home.

Prediction

Having weathered a shaky start to both halves at Bournemouth on Saturday in which Jansson was red carded, Brentford certainly looked like their sharp selves again with a clinical dominant display after having drawn five of their previous seven games.

Rotherham meanwhile will still have one game in hand after this match but they can take heart from Saturday’s battling performance in a controversial defeat at Barnsley, which they could well use as extra motivation if they apply themselves here.

I though can’t see them offering much if Brentford come out with a full-strength performance, yet if Rotherham deliver a counter-attack strategy then they might well nick something although the pressure is all on them now.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Rotherham
