Formula One and FIA have announced that there have been changes to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix schedule from 16-18 April, as a mark of respect for the funeral of HRH The Prince Phillip, Duke Of Edinburgh.
These changes have been made in order to avoid a clash between the end of Qualifying at Imola, Italy, and the start of Prince Phillip’s Funeral at Windsor Castle, England.
On Saturday, FP3 and Qualifying will start a hour earlier than initially scheduled with the former moving to a 11am start Central European Time (CET), which means a 10am kick-off UK time (BST).
Qualifying will commence at 2pm CET (1pm BST) in order to retain the two hour gap between FP3 and Qualifying.
There will also be revisions to Friday’s two practice sessions in order to adhere to the rule permitting FP3 to start no later than 19 hours after the conclusion of FP2.
FP1 will kick off 30 minutes earlier than scheduled at 11am CET (10am BST) with FP2 following at 2:30pm CET (1:30pm BST), retaining the traditional 150 minute gap between Friday Practice sessions.
A minute silence will also be held ahead of Qualifying to allow drivers and team personnel to pay their respects to the Duke of Edinburgh.
FIA however confirmed that Sunday’s race will commence as scheduled at 3pm CET (2pm BST).
