2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week 41 – Tuesday

Sheffield Wednesday welcome Swansea City to Hillsborough in Tuesday’s big rearranged Sky Bet Championship clash.

Victory will move Sheffield Wednesday to within four points of safety and potentially up to 22nd if Rotherham lose elsewhere, whereas Swansea can go third with a win.

Joost van Aken and Fisayo Dele Bashiru are doubts for Sheffield Wednesday as they continue to rebuild match fitness, having recovered from respective ankle injuries.

Chey Dunkley, Moses Odubajo (hamstring), Dominic Iorfa (Achilles), Massimo Luongo (thigh) and Cameron Dawson (knee) remain absent.

Swansea have no fresh injury concerns to report after Saturday’s 3-0 away win at Millwall.

Steven Brenda, Liam Cullen (both ankle), Tivonge Rushesha, Jordan Morris (both knee) and Paul Arriola (thigh) remain ruled out.

Prediction

Having claimed a dominant win on Easter Monday, Sheffield Wednesday will be disappointed with their defensive collapse at QPR on Saturday because this will be another tough clash but they can take heart from their strong home form in this fixture.

Swansea meanwhile will be relieved to have ended their four match slump with a dominant away performance at Millwall, in which they weathered the Lions’ threat and snatched a clinical win.

Steve Cooper’s Swans however have won just one of 15 previous league trips to Hillsborough, which should give the Owls hope and particularly after thrashing Swansea’s Welsh rivals – Cardiff last week so expect a closer contest than we might expect.

It is also worth noting that Sheffield Wednesday will have Darren Moore back on the touchline after recovering from Coronavirus, which should give them another boost to push on for and snatch a crucial win.

Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Swansea City
