2020 British F3 Champion, Kaylen Frederick will graduate to Formula Three for 2021 season as he completes Carlin’s driver line-up.
This move sees Frederick remain with Carlin for a third consecutive season, having spent 2019 & 20 campaigns with the British team in British F3, as he went on to win the title last season with nine victories and eight pole positions.
Speaking on his promotion into F3, Frederick said; “I’m extremely excited for the season and can’t wait to get on track.”
The 18 year-old American however is wary of the competition and challenges that lie ahead, commenting; “You know you are up against the best drivers on the road to F1. There will be many challenges ahead as a team, I feel we have what it takes to tackle those challenges.”
Team Principal, Trevor Carlin is “delighted” to retain Frederick as he moves up to FIA F3, praising the young adult, adding; “He is a complete pleasure to have in the team, both in and out of the car.”
Carlin also admitted that Frederick’s “work ethic” will ensure that he is sure to “give it absolutely everything to get the most out of the package we provide him with.”
Frederick first moved into single-seater racing in 2016 at just 13 years-old as he quickly rose through the US ‘Road to Indy’ system, before switching to British F3 in 2019 where he went on to enjoy further success with 9th overall in his rookie season before winning the title in 2020.
Confirmation of Frederick’s graduation means that Carlin have now completed their F3 lineup as he will partner Ido Cohen and Jonny Edgar this season.
This new F3 season will see seven rounds of three races per weekend as part of a format change, of which the campaign will climax in Texas, USA which will represent a home round for Frederick.
