Arsenal welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates Stadium in a huge North London derby on Super Sunday.
Victory by a four goal margin or more would see Arsenal climb to ninth, whereas a win would see Tottenham go fifth for at least a few hours.
Team News
Arsenal have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad available for selection.
Harry Kane is a doubt for Tottenham after suffering a knock to his knee in Thursday’s Europa League win over Dinamo Zagreb.
Giovani Lo Celso is unlikely to feature as he continues to recover from a back injury.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal have won just one of their last five league meetings against Tottenham (W1, D2, L2).
- Tottenham are winless in their last nine league trips to the Emirates Stadium (D4, L5)
- Harry Kane has scored three goals in his last four league appearances for Tottenham against Arsenal.
- 18 of Arsenal’s 35 league goals so far this season have come from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette with nine goals each.
- Only one of Son Heung-min 13 league goals for Spurs this season has come from a header.
Prediction
Arsenal will be pleased with Thursday’s Europa League win at Olympiacos which represented a strong improvement on last Saturday’s Premier League effort at Burnley, in which they dominated but often wasted chances so I want to see more progress here from the Gunners.
Tottenham also won in Europa League on Thursday in a comfortable routine result against Dinamo Zagreb to follow up last Sunday’s impressive domestic display against Crystal Palace, with Spurs dominant across both matches with ease.
This therefore feels like an intriguing encounter between two teams who have had their fair amount of ruts this season and especially midway through two huge Europa League legs, so I am punting on a draw here unless Spurs can score first then crack on and find a second given recent form in this fixture.
Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham
Result: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham
