2020-21 Premier League: Week 26 – Tottenham vs Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur look to reboot their bid for a top four finish as they welcome Burnley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Super Sunday.

Should Aston Villa fail to win on Saturday evening, Tottenham can climb to eighth with victory whereas Burnley can go 14th with a win due to Southampton not playing until Monday night.

Serge Aurier could return for Tottenham after missing their recent matches with a calf injury.

Giovani Lo Celso (thigh) is back in training but won’t be eligible for the matchday squad until deemed fully fit.

Burnley could be missing Jay Rodriguez after suffering a couple of knocks during last weekend’s goalless draw against West Brom.

Erik Pieters (groin), Dale Stephens (knock), Robbie Brady (ankle) and Chris Wood (hamstring) could all return if pass late fitness tests but Johann Berg Gudmundsson (hamstring) and Ashley Barnes (thigh) are ruled out.

Prediction

Tottenham were just dominant on Wednesday against Wolfsberger in the Europa League, yet they were just sluggish and sloppy in their last league game last Sunday at West Ham who punished them early in both halves to pile misery onto Spurs’ run of one win in their last six league games.

Burnley meanwhile found themselves in a right scrap against West Brom last Saturday in windy conditions with defence often struggling when stretched, despite often recovering position well which will be something they probably will often be doing here.

I however would like to see Burnley come out with the same attacking energy that they had at Crystal Palace a fortnight ago from the get-go, because that is probably key to beating Spurs otherwise I can see just one result coming here if Tottenham are at their best.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Burnley
