Jenzer Motorsport have completed their driver line-up for the 2021 Formula Three season as Filip Ugran joins the team.
18 year-old Ugran has spent the last two seasons racing in Italian F4 where he finished eighth in the 2020 overall standings.
Ugran also tested for the team during the 2020 post-season test where he impressed bosses who have now signed the youngster up for his first season of F3.
Speaking on his graduation into F3, Ugran who hails from Romania said: “I am extremely pleased to announce that I will be competing for Jenzer Motorsport in the FIA F3 season.”
On staying with the team who he drove for in Italian F4 last season as he makes the step up, Ugran said: “I have been competing for this amazing team in the 2020 season and I am very glad about the achieved results. I cannot wait to be back on a circuit soon.”
Jenzer Team Principal, Andreas Jenzer believes that this signing leaves the team ‘very motivated’ in having secured Ugran at the next highest level after a positive Italian F4 campaign in 2020.
Jenzer however is cautious on what we can expect from Ugran this season, saying: “Filip won’t have it easy as a rookie, so it’s definitely an advantage that we already get along very well. Filip has prepared seriously and we will work hard together.”
Ugran will partner Pierre-Louis Chovet who switches from Hitech Grand Prix plus Calan Williams, who remains at Jenzer Motorsport for a second season in F3.
Elsewhere, five seats now remain to be filled ahead of the new F3 season with three seats yet to be announced at Charouz, whilst Campos and Carlin both have one vacant seat available.
The new F3 season will kick off at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain across the weekend of 7-9 May with a new three-race weekend format.
