Pierre-Louis Chovet has signed up to race for Jenzer Motorsport in Formula Three for 2021 season.
Chovet replaced Great Britain’s Max Fewtrell at Hitech GP for the penultimate two rounds of last season, managing to score six points in his final race for the British based team at Monza in what he described as “a few experiences” from across those four races.
The young French driver will now contest a full season in F3 with Jenzer Motorsport, with Chovet describing three qualities as behind his decision, saying; ” The state-of-the-art technical know-how and atypical approach of Andreas Jenzer’s team, as well as its human quality and focus on FIA Three, are three of the factors that convinced me to get involved in this innovative project.”
Chovet in particular pointed towards the team’s involvement in Yuki Tsunoda’s rise to F1 where the Japanese driver will race for AlphaTauri this season as another reason behind his decision, believing that the team “contributed significantly” to Tsunoda’s development and further success.
Jenzer Team Principal, Andreas Jenzer has spoken of his excitement at signing a promising talent in Chovet, saying; “We are looking forward to working with Pierre-Louis on the track. From what he has shown so far, we see great potential and an exciting F3 season ahead of us all.”
F3 will begin pre-season testing in Jerez, Spain, from 25-26 February 2021 in the first of three two-day tests, which sees them then visit Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, on 16-17 March before heading to the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria, from 3-4 April for their final pre-season test.
The following month will then see F3 commence their season in Spain from 7-9 May as the series introduces a new weekend format, with the campaign concluding on 24 October in the USA at Circuit of the Americas with the seventh and final round.
