Manchester United welcome Real Sociedad to Old Trafford in the second leg of their last 32 tie in 2020-21 UEFA Europa League.
United enter this leg with one foot already in the next stage after comfortably dispatching their La Liga opposition 4-0, meaning that they just need to avoid conceding five goals in order to secure their spot in the Round of 16.
Sociedad meanwhile must score five goals without reply to stage a dramatic comeback and advance to the next stage.
Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek won’t be risked in this match for Man Utd as the pair near full fitness following muscle injuries.
Scott McTominay (knock), Paul Pogba (muscle) and Phil Jones (knee) are all still ruled out.
Real Sociedad will be without Robin Le Normand after the centre-back accumulated his second booking of the season in the first leg.
Joseba Zaidua (hamstring) joins Luca Sangalli and Miguel Moya (both knee) on sidelines.
- Man Utd are unbeaten in three previous meetings against Real Sociedad in all UEFA competitions (W2, D1).
- Real Sociedad lost their only previous trip to Man Utd, losing 1-0 in October 2013.
- Marcus Rashford has scored five goals in Utd’s three previous home matches at Old Trafford in all UEFA competitions this season
Utd were simply ruthless last week on neutral territory but are now at home where they have looked shaky in recent games at Old Trafford, in which they benefitted from a series of Newcastle errors to take victory on Sunday.
Sociedad meanwhile must come out here without fear and look to deliver the mother of all comebacks, because they netted four goals in four matches this season in all competitions so extra time is doable but I don’t think they could get five or come close to a fightback unless their defence improves.
I therefore am plumping for a home win although I do expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to hand fringe and young players a chance in this match.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Real Sociedad
Result: Manchester United 0-0 Real Sociedad (Man Utd win 4-0 on aggregate)
