2020-21 Premier League: Week 24 – Burnley vs Fulham

Burnley welcome Fulham to Turf Moor in a rearranged Premier League clash.

Victory could see Burnley climb as high as 13th whereas Fulham can move to within four points of safety with a win.

Ben Mee is ruled out for Burnley after suffering concussion in Saturday’s win at Crystal Palace.

Erik Pieters (groin), Johann Berg Gudmundsson (groin/calf), Charlie Taylor, Chris Wood, Matej Vydra (all hamstring) and Dale Stephens (knock) all face late fitness tests.

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report after beating Everton on Sunday, as Aleksandr Mitrovic (Coronavirus) and Tom Cairney (knee) remain sidelined.

Stat Attack

  • Burnley have taken four points from four previous Premier League meetings against Fulham (W1, D1, L2).
  • Fulham have failed to win any of their last 32 trips to Turf Moor in all competitions (D6, L26).
  • Both teams have scored in five of their last six meetings across all competitions.
  • All six of Dwight McNeil’s Premier League goals have come on his left foot.
  • No Fulham player has scored an own goal in the Premier League yet this season.

Prediction

Burnley will be pleased with Saturday’s reaction at Palace to their midweek FA Cup exit because they looked seriously hungry for the win, which showed in their attacking sharpness and energy to expose and punish defensive spacing errors by the hosts.

Fulham meanwhile looked full of confidence at Everton because their high pressure attacking game full of sharp passing and creative runs up the flanks proved too hot for the Toffees to handle, which will certainly provide Sean Dyche’s Clarets with a tactical headache to consider.

Tactics therefore will be key here because if Sean Dyche can set up his Burnley team properly to counteract Fulham’s attacking intent, this could well be a tough game but I can see a draw coming here if Fulham show more of what we saw on Sunday.

Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Fulham

Result: Burnley 1-1 Fulham
