Clement Novalak will switch from Carlin to Trident for the 2021 Formula Three season.
The move sees Novalak stay in F3 for a second season after producing two podiums en route to 12th place for Carlin last season.
Speaking on his decision to switch to Trident, Novalak said: “I am extremely honored to join such a prestigious team and I hope to take this opportunity to achieve my goals.”
The 20 year-old French-Swiss tested for the team during 2020 post-season testing and felt comfortable with the team, saying: “I had an amazing experience with the team last year throughout post season testing, and I really felt at one with the crew.”
Trident Team Principal, Giacomo Ricci described Novalak as ‘extremely fast and competitive’ with various qualities, saying: “He is enthusiastic and absolutely dedicated to the work, I really like his approach and work method.”
On Novalak’s impressive performance in the post-season tests and preparation for the new season, Ricci said: “He impressed the team in the postseason tests and created great chemistry with all its members. I am sure that he is now set for a very competitive season under our banner.”
Novalak was the only driver from Carlin’s initial driver line-up to last the entire 2020 season showcasing his ability in a difficult campaign, which Ricci believes will help him improve further, saying: “If he will make the step forward that I expect, he will be among the leading contenders in 2021.”
News of Novalak’s arrival comes a week after Trident confirmed that David Schumacher would drive for the team this season, leaving just one seat to fill ahead of pre-season testing which has been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic induced travel restrictions.
Schumacher will drive car number six whilst Novalak will race in the number five Trident car for this season, with whoever taking the last seat occupying number four.
