Matt Lowton, Kevin Long, Erik Pieters and Johann Berg Gudmundsson have all signed new contracts to extend their stay at Burnley.

Lowton, Long and Berg Gudmundsson who have all amassed over 300 appearances for the Clarets between them, have all signed new two-and-a-half-year deals to keep them at Turf Moor until June 2023 at earliest.

Pieters who has provided one Premier League assist this season meanwhile has extended his contract for another season meaning that he will remain part of Sean Dyche’s Clarets until at least June 2022.

The quartet’s decision to extend their time at the club comes after Ben Mee, Jack Cork, Ashley Westwood, Jay Rodriguez and Matej Vydra all signed new deals earlier in this season.

Burnley however have recently undergone a change of ownership with ALK Capital now in charge of the club, which makes these new contract extensions all the more positive for manager, Dyche who feels that it is important to conduct recruitment not just outside of the club via transfer market but inside as well.

Dyche though believes that the quartet are committing to the club, saying: “We have to make sure good people, good players and good servants to the club remain so and in agreeing these contracts, they’re certainly putting their front foot forward…”

The 49 year-old also spoke of the importance in the quartet choosing to remain at the club, saying: “The main thing for me is players who want to re-sign for the hunger and desire to be part of Burnley Football club.”

With nine players now having agreed their plans for the immediate future, Dyche now hopes that this paves the way for ‘… others possibly doing that as we go forward.’

Burnley have also activated a clause in their loan agreement with Angers to convert Anthony Gomez Mancini’s loan deal into a permanent signing until June 2022, after the French youngster impressed in their Under-23s squad this season and even found himself named as an unused substitute in a first-team fixture.

The Clarets are next in action on Sunday 31 January 2021 away at Chelsea in Premier League action in a noon kick-off.
