Dan Ticktum Joins Carlin For 2021 F2 Season

Carlin have announced that Dan Ticktum will race for the team in 2021 Formula Two season.

Ticktum enjoyed a solid rookie campaign with DAMS last season with one victory en route to a 11th placed championship finish.

2021 though sees the Williams F1 Academy member switch to Carlin partnering Jehan Daruvala, with the Brit excited at his move saying; “I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and working with Carlin this year. We had three productive test days in Bahrain and I already feel part of the team.”

Ticktum also spoke of his confidence in the team ahead of pre-season testing and want to capitalise on the team’s form towards end of last season, as he said; “We have worked really well together and already know what our goals are for post-season testing.

“Carlin proved they had a race winning car towards the end of last season and I really want to capitalise on that and mount a strong championship challenge from the start.”

Carlin Team Principal, Trevor Carlin is “really excited” to have secured Ticktum after enjoying a brief partnership in Macau in 2019, where the Brit finished 13th after enduring a disastrous Qualifying Race, before he drove for their F2 team in last month’s post-season test.

Carlin in particular praised Ticktum for his ability, saying; “He’s very quick and a great racer and we are excited to see his true potential with us this year. We’ll be working with him to really develop everything he’s learnt so far with the aim to mount a very consistent and measured championship attack.”

On Ticktum partnering Daruvala, Carlin is pleased to secure one of F2’s most “exciting young” driver line-ups for this season, with the 57 year-old keen to see progress, adding; “I know they will keep pushing us forward as a team and it will be up to us as a team to deliver a fast car to allow them to challenge for wins from the outset.”

F2 will kick off the 2021 season in Bahrain from 26-28 March as their new three-race weekend format commences.
