2020-21 FA Cup: Fourth Round – Wycombe vs Tottenham

Wycombe Wanderers look to produce a giant-killing as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Adams Park for their Fourth Round tie in Monday Night Football of 2020-21 FA Cup.

Victory for Wycombe or Tottenham will see them visit Everton at Goodison Park in the Fifth Round.

Wycombe will be without some first-team regulars following a Coronavirus outbreak in recent weeks, although manager – Gareth Ainsworth hasn’t disclosed any names.

Anthony Stewart remains ruled out with a knee injury.

Tottenham could again be without Dele Alli and Matt Doherty as the pair continue to struggle with undisclosed injuries, which forced them both to miss Spurs’ win at Sheffield Utd last weekend.

Serge Aurier (knock) is also a doubt whilst Giovani Lo Celso (thigh) remains absent.

Stat Attack

  • Wycombe lost their only previous FA Cup meeting against Tottenham, losing 4-3 in January 2017 at Spurs’ former home – White Hart Lane.
  • Tottenham are visiting Adams Park for the very first time.
  • Wycombe are winless in their five FA Cup meetings against Premier League opposition this century (D2, L3)

Prediction

Wycombe definitely come into this game as underdogs but have shown impressive attacking intent in eight of their last nine matches in all competitions, yet defending has been their biggest issue which is a concern when coming up against a team like Tottenham.

Tottenham meanwhile have impressed since the turn of the new year with a renewed sharpness in their play, so will be looking to dominate here ahead of Thursday’s crunch Premier League encounter against Liverpool which could influence their team selection here.

Coronavirus though is the biggest factor because Wycombe could of done with their entire first-team fit for selection, because I genuinely can’t see them winning here with their depleted squad although a goal would be a decent return for their confidence.

Prediction: Wycombe Wanderers 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Result: Wycombe Wanderers 1-4 Tottenham Hotspur
