Dennis Hauger Joins PREMA For 2021 F3 Season

PREMA Racing have signed Dennis Hauger as their second driver for 2021 Formula Three season.

Red Bull junior, Hauger makes the switch from Hitech GP where he only scored a total of 14 points across 18 races, of which both points finishes came in Hungary where he finished third in the second race.

Speaking on securing a second season in F3 at just 17 years-old, Hauger said “After spending some time with the team this autumn I very quickly felt at home.

“Their team spirit and the hard work they put into every little detail is something that I really enjoyed.”

Hauger will spend winter in Italy working with PREMA on preparing for next season as he looks to become the third consecutive F3 champion for PREMA from a different F1 backed team, after the Italian outfit took Ferrari and Renault juniors – Robert Shwartzman and Oscar Piastri respectively to the title in each of the last two seasons.

PREMA Team Principal, Rene Rosin spoke of learning how Hauger is one of the “… brightest and most promising talents in junior single-seaters” after witnessing him as a “… fierce and sportsmanlike…” rival in 2019 Italian F4 where he finished as champion for Van Amersfoort Racing whilst finishing as vice-champion in ADAC German F4 that same season.

Rosin also added that Hauger has continued to show promise in his rookie F3 season despite his young age, saying; “Despite his young age, he showed promise in his maiden FIA Formula 3 season, and impressed in our first testing runs together.”

Hauger will partner Arthur Leclerc next season whilst PREMA will announce their third F3 driver in due course with the season set to begin in early May in Barcelona Spain, as the series launches a new format featuring two Saturday races alongside the single Sunday morning race as part of cost-cutting measures.
