2020-21 Premier League: Week 14 – Burnley vs Wolves

Burnley welcome Wolves to Turf Moor in the opening match of a Monday Night Football double-bill.

At least one point would see Burnley climb out of the relegation zone, whereas Wolves could temporarily rise to eighth with a win.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Dale Stephens won’t be risked for Burnley as they continue to recover from hamstring injuries.

Jack Cork is still ruled out with an ankle injury but is nearing a full return to fitness, although he won’t be rushed back until match fit.

Wolves will welcome Joao Moutinho back from suspension which saw the midfielder miss their 2-1 comeback win over Chelsea.

Willy Boly and Leander Dendoncker are doubts with knocks whilst Raul Jimenez (head) and Jonny (knee) remain sidelined indefinitely.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Burnley produced a resilient defensive performance to claim a share of the points at Aston Villa on Thursday but if they’re to win this game, they have to play with more attack because Wolves have shown that they’re a dangerous team to keep quiet despite various tweaks in style.

Wolves were underdogs against Chelsea on Tuesday with an excellently played counter strategy but here, they will start as favourites so will need to show better defending because it was poor at times in the first half against Chelsea.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets though are a proven defensive unit and possess Nick Pope in goal so this could well be another tightly fought contest, where Wolves require patience but I can see them eventually finding a narrow win.

Prediction: Burnley 0-1 Wolves

Result: Burnley 2-1 Wolves
