Midtjylland welcome Liverpool to MCH Arena in a dead rubber Group D clash in 2020-21 UEFA Champions League.
Midtjylland are already eliminated and will finish last but will look to end their European campaign on a high with victory, whilst Liverpool are through as group winners but will want a win for momentum purposes heading into a tough domestic period of fixtures.
Midtjylland have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad available for selection.
Liverpool remain without Alisson because of a hamstring injury which has forced him to sit out their last two matches.
Xherdan Shaqiri (muscle), James Milner (hamstring), Thiago Alcantara, Joe Gomez, Virgil Van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (all knee) are all out indefinitely.
- Midtjylland lost their only previous meeting against Liverpool, losing 2-0 at Anfield in late October.
- Liverpool are unbeaten in two previous away trips against Danish opposition in Europe’s premier competition (W1, D1).
- One of Liverpool’s six away goals in two away trips in Champions League this season has come from an own goal, courtesy of Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico.
With this match being a dead rubber, I can see wholesale changes from both teams here with youngsters potentially getting an opportunity to impress, although I do feel that Liverpool do have work to do because they weren’t strongly impressive against an attacking Wolves team on Sunday, despite taking a clinically dominant win through quality goals.
Their defending however was solid as always but this is an opportunity to rediscover their creative gears in midfield and attack and I think that they will take this opportunity, especially because this could be a chance to maintain momentum heading into a tough domestic winter of fixtures rapidly hurtling their way in coming months.
Prediction: Midtjylland 0-2 Liverpool
Result: Midtjylland 1-1 Liverpool
