Barnsley welcome Bournemouth to Oakwell Stadium in a huge Friday Night Football clash from the Sky Bet Championship.
Victory will lift the Tykes up to 11th ahead of this weekend’s matches whilst Bournemouth need just at least one point to temporarily go top of the table.
Barnsley have no fresh injury concerns to report after Tuesday’s win at Birmingham, but Jordan Green (ankle) and Ben Williams (knee) remain absent.
Bournemouth also have no fresh injury concerns to report as Jefferson Lerma is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of season in Tuesday’s 2-3 loss to Preston.
Cameron Carter-Vickers (ankle) and Jack Stacey (knee) remain absent for the Cherries.
- Barnsley are winless in their last five meetings against Bournemouth (D2, L3).
- Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last four trips to Oakwell (W2, D2).
- Barnsley have scored just once in their last five meetings against Bournemouth, drawing 1-1 at Dean Court in February 2006.
Having scrapped their way to survival last season, Barnsley have shown decent improvement this campaign to find themselves in mid-table despite their defensive deficiencies still being present which is an aspect that Bournemouth will be looking to target.
Bournemouth however put in an uncharacteristic performance on Tuesday against Bournemouth despite their late fightback, so they will definitely want to get that first goal but Barnsley did fight back from behind to beat Birmingham so this will be a tough contest.
I however am going for an away win because given the Cherries’ quality in attack, they should be able to find a way to break these Tykes down and claim a win although defending hasn’t been the best forte for both teams lately.
Prediction: Barnsley 1-2 Bournemouth
Result: Barnsley 0-4 Bournemouth
