Manchester United welcome PSG to Old Trafford in a blockbuster Group H clash in 2020-21 UEFA Champions League.
Victory will see Manchester United qualify for the knockout stage but if RB Leipzig fail to beat Istanbul Basaksehir, United will go through as Group H winners whilst a win would move PSG level on points with the Red Devils to set up at least a three-way decider in the final round of group games next Tuesday.
Paul Pogba could be amongst several returnees for Man Utd after recovering from an ankle injury.
Jesse Lingard (fitness), Scott McTominay (unspecified), Anthony Martial (illness), David De Gea (knock) and Alex Telles (fitness) could also be fit for selection.
Eric Bailly (muscle), Luke Shaw (hamstring) and Phil Jones (knee) remain absent alongside Axel Tuanzebe who is suspended for this match.
PSG could be without Marquinhos due to an adductor injury whilst Julian Draxler (thigh) and Thilo Kehrer (groin) are expected to miss out, whilst Juan Bernat (knee) remains a long-term absentee.
Mauro Icardi (thigh) and Pablo Sarabia (muscle) also miss out.
- Man Utd have won two of three previous Champions League meetings against PSG (W2, L1).
- PSG won their only previous trip to Old Trafford, beating United 2-0 in February 2019 before losing the second leg 3-1 at home the following month.
- Marcus Rashford has scored four goals in two Champions League home games this season, of which three goals came in the second-half.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will definitely be expecting an improved performance from his Red Devils because at Southampton on Sunday, their first-half performance was decent but lacked clinical finishing on several occasions before benefitting from increased effort in second-half combined with dodgy Saints defending to turn things around which offers promise that can be built on.
Defending though at set pieces proved to be Utd’s biggest issue and if we see more of the same here, PSG will be smelling plenty of goal scoring opportunities by drawing fouls converted into free-kicks or corners which will be a real worry given their superior quality compared to Southampton.
PSG however have struggled defensively this season so there will be goals but if Utd are able to hit the ground running and don’t waste shots then I can see a home win here.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 PSG
Result: Manchester United 1-3 PSG
