Bournemouth welcome Bristol City to the Vitaly Stadium in Wednesday’s huge Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory will send Bournemouth above City into second whilst the Robins themselves can reclaim second with a win.
David Brooks is set to be available for Bournemouth after missing out on Saturday’s draw at Watford through fitness concerns, having only returned to training at back end of last week.
Adam Smith is however doubtful due to suffering a knee injury in last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Cardiff and won’t be risked if not fully fit.
Bristol City will be without Alfie Mawson due to a knee injury suffered in last week’s home loss to Middlesbrough.
Steven Sessegnon (hamstring) joins Nathan Baker (hamstring) on sidelines whilst Andreas Weimann is a doubt with a knee injury.
- Bournemouth are unbeaten in four of last six meetings against Bristol City (W2, D2, L2).
- Bristol City are unbeaten in three of last four trips to Bournemouth (W1, D2, L1).
- Arnaut Danjuma has scored in two of his three home Championship appearances for Bournemouth this season.
Bournemouth come into this match off the back of a hard earned draw at Watford on Saturday but haven’t exactly been firing on all cylinders lately, yet have scraped three consecutive draws which underlines the depth within this squad despite plenty of exits over the summer.
Bristol City meanwhile are beginning to feel the effects of injuries which is a huge worry but I do expect them to make a good game with their attacking quality, although their defensive fragilities are beginning to become apparent with poor squad depth in that area during this frantic run of matches.
It is worth noting that the Cherries’ defence hasn’t exactly been much better so I am expecting goals but with the Robins’ defensive issues, this is an opportunity which Bournemouth need to take in their bid for promotion.
Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Bristol City
Result: Bournemouth 1-0 Bristol City
