2020-21 Premier League: Week Six – Burnley vs Tottenham

Burnley welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Turf Moor in a mouth-watering climax to this week’s two part Monday Night Football.

Victory will lift Burnley out of the relegation zone if West Brom fail to beat Brighton at teatime, whilst Spurs can go fifth with a win.

Matt Lowton is set to return for Burnley after a month out with a knee injury.

Erik Pieters (calf) and Bailey Peacock Farrell (hip) are also in contention but face late fitness tests alongside Lowton.

Phil Bardsley (illness) and Ben Mee (thigh) remain absent but could return next weekend whilst Jack Cork (ankle) is a month away from making a first-team return.

Tottenham could have Eric Dier back from a thigh injury but Japhet Tanganga is still ruled out with his own thigh injury.

Prediction

Burnley showed positive signs of progress at West Brom last week with a stronger defensive performance than we saw before the international break, although they were unfortunately kept out by a superb goalkeeping display which should be a useful lesson ahead of this match.

Tottenham meanwhile bounced back from a shambolic late defensive meltdown against West Ham last Sunday with a dominant Europa win on Thursday over LASK without Harry Kane present, so if he starts with Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale on flanks then it is hard to see them losing this.

This however won’t be an easy match because Burnley are a good solid side even if they are inconsistent at present plus results this weekend have shown that anything can happen, although I genuinely can’t see Spurs losing this match.

Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
