2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week Four – Friday

Coventry City welcome promotion chasing Bournemouth to St Andrew’s in Friday Night Football from Sky Bet Championship.

A win could lift Coventry into the top six ahead of the weekend’s games whereas Bournemouth know that victory will take them top until at least Saturday teatime.

Liam Kelly could return to Coventry’s starting lineup after recovering from a hamstring injury suffered in their opening league match at Bristol City earlier this season.

Ben Wilson (wrist), Brandon Mason, Jodie Jones, Wes Jobello (all knee), Will Bapaga (shoulder), Julien Dacosta (ankle) and Marcel Hilssner (personal) all remain ruled out.

Bournemouth have David Brooks available after the Welsh midfielder tested negative for Coronavirus this week.

Stat Attack

  • Coventry are unbeaten in their last four meetings against Bournemouth in all competitions (W4).
  • Bournemouth have lost their last two trips to Coventry since dropping ‘and Boscombe Athletic’ from their team name (L2).
  • Coventry are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches dating back to October 2019 (W7, D4).

Coventry have shown great grit in their opening games but this will be a tough test against a Bournemouth team who seem to have bounced back from relegation in confident fashion with two wins and a draw from their first three matches.

Both teams also found themselves involved in tight games last weekend as Coventry failed to break down a stubborn Barnsley team, whereas Bournemouth delivered a clinical win over Norwich so this could very well be a tight clash if both teams turn up with a strong performance.

I however am going for a Bournemouth win because although Coventry’s home record is impressive, I just can’t see them having enough to beat a strong Cherries team which still have quality players like Dominic Solanke within their squad.

Prediction: Coventry 1-2 Bournemouth

Result: Coventry 1-3 Bournemouth
