2019-20 UEFA Champions League Final Preview

PSG look to secure a maiden Champions League title as they take on Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League Final at Estadio da Luz, Lisbon in Portugal.

PSG enter this match with two previous UEFA titles to their name after winning the 1995-96 Cup Winners’ Cup and 2001-02 Intertoto Cup, whereas Bayern has seven UEFA trophies of which six came in this competition with four trophies won under the old European Cup branding compared to just twice in the current modern era.

PSG could again be without Keylor Navas after the Costa Rica goalkeeper suffered a hamstring injury during their comeback Quarter-Final win over Atalanta.

Idrissa Gueye and Layvin Kurzawa are also doubtful due to respective muscle and thigh injuries.

Bayern could be without Jerome Boateng after the defender was subbed with a muscle injury during Wednesday’s Semi-Final victory over Lyon.

Benjamin Pavard could also feature after making a late substitute appearance in midweek following an ankle injury.

Prediction

PSG were brilliant against RB Leipzig in their semi-final in terms of controlling this game and showing more of their conventional fast paced attacking play, which will definitely be a concern for Bayern who were defensively sloppy against Lyon yet fairly clinical up front.

I therefore am expecting a good match between two quality teams because PSG will probably view the counter-attack strategy as their best hope for glory, whereas Bayern will try and quickly gather control but their defence will have to be on it because Manuel Neuer mainly was responsible for their clean sheet against Lyon with his excellent saves.

It is worth remembering that this is the same Bayern team that destroyed Barcelona 8-2 just over a week ago though, so I reckon that they might just have that extra quality needed to get the job done unless PSG can produce a defensive masterclass to snatch a narrow win.

Prediction: PSG 1-2 Bayern Munich

Result: PSG 0-1 Bayern Munich
