RB Leipzig and PSG meet in the opening semi-final of this season’s UEFA Champions League at Estadio da Luz, Lisbon in Portugal.
This match represents a huge opportunity for both teams to reach a maiden Champions League Final and for PSG, a first final across all in-season UEFA competitions since winning the 1995-96 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

Ibrahima Konate is RB Leipzig’s only absentee with a hip injury which kept him out of their Quarter-Final win over Atletico Madrid.
PSG will have Kylian Mbappe available for starting line-up selection after a successful substitute appearance in their Quarter-Final win over Atalanta.
Keylor Navas however is ruled out with a hamstring injury whilst Idrissa Gueye (muscle), Marco Verratti (calf) and Layvin Kurzawa (thigh) are doubtful.
- This is the first-ever meeting between RB Leipzig and PSG in all UEFA competitions.
- Leipzig have kept just one disciplinary clean sheet in Champions League all season, which came in a 2-1 Group Stage win over Zenit Saint Petersburg last October.
- PSG have scored first in six of their nine Champions League games this season.
PSG will be relieved that Mbappe is available to start because without him, they looked extremely rusty against Atalanta until he came on and helped to turn the game around with his attacking quality and pace as Neymar dropped into attacking midfield.
I therefore am hoping that Neymar is played as an attacking midfielder rather than up front, because he looked more creative in that role once Mbappe came on and those two together with Neymar feeding Mbappe could be key to beating Leipzig’s defence.
Leipzig however are capable of causing issues with their attacking pace when given the opportunity to push up the flanks, which will in turn ask questions of PSG’s defence if they continue to perform sloppily.
This therefore could be a good contest because both teams will be looking for a first Champions League Final appearance, although I am going for a PSG win if Mbappe and Neymar bring their A game to this encounter.
Prediction: RB Leipzig 1-2 PSG
Result: RB Leipzig 0-3 PSG
