Everton welcome Manchester United to Goodison Park in a blockbuster Super Sunday clash, as both teams look to continue their bids for a top five finish.
Everton can climb to ninth with a win whilst Man Utd will move to within one point of fourth-placed Chelsea if they take victory.
Team news
Morgan Schneiderlin is ruled out for Everton after undergoing knee surgery on a torn meniscus.
Lucas Digne (muscle) is a doubt but Theo Walcott is in contention to from a knee injury, whilst Jean-Phillipe Gbamin (tendon) remains sidelined.
Man Utd could be without Anthony Martial after the Frenchman missed Thursday’s Europa League win over Club Brugge with a thigh injury.
Lee Grant (unspecified), Axel Tuanzebe, Timothy Fosu-Mensah (both thigh), Paul Pogba (foot) and Marcus Rashford (back) remain absent.
Form
Everton saw a five match unbeaten run ended last weekend at Arsenal (W3, D2, L1), although the Toffees haven’t lost at home since Marco Silva was sacked in early December (W4, D2).
Man Utd are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions (W5, D2), whilst keeping a clean sheet in six of those seven games.
Stat Attack
- Everton have won just one of their last five meetings against Man Utd (W1, D1, L3).
- Only one of their last five league meetings at Goodison Park saw both teams score, coming in a 1-1 draw in December 2016.
- Gylfi Sigurdsson has scored for Everton on his last two appearances against Man Utd.
- No Everton player has had more shots this season than Richarlison, who has produced 66 shots in 25 appearances this season.
- Both teams have missed one of their penalties in this Premier League fixture.
Prediction
Everton have really found their feet under Carlo Ancelotti despite defending still proving a concern, which is a worry when coming up against an improved Man Utd who seemed reborn in the past month.
Both teams however are excellent going forward on the attack so this definitely could be a key game for the top five hopes of both teams, and especially for Everton who need to beat these type of teams to give themselves a good shot at fifth.
I therefore can see some of goals here but given Utd’s form, it is hard to bet against an away win here.
Prediction: Everton 1-2 Manchester United
Result: Everton 1-1 Manchester United
