2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 25 – Sunday

Millwall play host to promotion chasing Brentford at The Den in Sunday’s big Championship clash, as the Lions and Bees lock horns in a London derby.

A win for Millwall could move them up into the top ten, whilst Brentford will stay third with victory but could move closer to automatic promotion depending on results elsewhere.

Murray Wallace could start for Millwall after only making the bench in their Boxing Day draw at Cardiff, due to illness.

Frank Fielding (quad), Ben Thompson (ankle) and Ryan Leonard (ribs) however are ruled out.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns to report after taking a 3-1 home win over Swansea on Thursday.

Sergi Canos and Nikos Karelis remain long-term absentees with knee injuries.

Stat Attack

  • Millwall have taken four points from their last five meetings with Brentford (W1. D1, L3), of which all four points came in their last two clashes at The Den.
  • This is the first time that this fixture has been played three times in same calendar year since 1980 – when they met on four occasions in that year, of which Millwall took four points from two home games.
  • Jed Wallace has produced more goals and assists at The Den this season than any other Millwall player, scoring and making four goals apiece.

Prediction

This is a huge test for Millwall’s play-off hopes because defeat will certainly make the top six a tougher prospect in the coming months, because Brentford look like they are a match for any team at present.

I watched the Bees’ Boxing Day win over Swansea and they were simply stunning in how they dominated the game, even after conceding because they aren’t afraid to mix things up depending on the opposition which will be a worry for Millwall.

The Lions however have a decent home record against Brentford so I am expecting a tight battle, with the Bees coming out on top.

Prediction: Millwall 1-2 Brentford

Result: Millwall 1-0 Brentford
