2019-20 Premier League: Week 17 – Wolves vs Tottenham

Wolves face a tough battle in the scrap for fifth as they welcome Tottenham to Molineux. 

Victory for either team could send them fifth, providing that Manchester United fail to beat Everton in the other mid-afternoon Super Sunday game.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns with Morgan Gibbs-White still sidelined with an on-going back injury.

Willy Boly meanwhile is slowly beginning to return to training as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Tottenham could have Harry Winks available after the midfielder missed the past week with an ankle injury.

Ben Davies (ankle), Hugo Lloris (elbow), Michel Vorm (calf), Tanguy Ndombele (groin) and Erik Lamela (hamstring) are still under-going on field rehabilitation.

Wolves are unbeaten in 17 of their last 18 games across all competitions, dropping just four points from their last five home league games. 

Tottenham are unbeaten in three of their five games so far under Jose Mourinho in all competitions, but have taken just one clean sheet in that time – beating Burnley 5-0 at home in the league last weekend.

Prediction

This is going to be a tough match to call after both teams left their regulars out of their midweek European games.

Spurs however were ruthless last weekend against Burnley which is a great positive heading into a game like this, because Wolves will once again adapt to the challenge put out in front of them and should be difficult to silence. 

Defending however has been a dodgy aspect of both teams this season so we should expect goals, although Wolves’ bench looks the more effective which might be the key here late on.
