Rangers head to Stadion Feijenoord knowing that a win over Feyenoord would put them on the brink of qualification for the Europa League Knockout Stage.
They will also secure progression if Porto fail to take victory in Switzerland against Young Boys and they manage to take victory in Rotterdam.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesFeyenoord will be without defenders; Sven van Beek, Edgar Le and Rick Karsdorp due to various injuries.
Rangers have no fresh injury concerns as Alfredo Morelos returns up front, having been a substitute in Sunday’s win at Hamilton after an airline strike delayed his return from international duty.
Jermain Defoe therefore drops out after suffering a knock in training which has kept him at Ibrox.
Borna Barisic meanwhile will receive a late fitness test on a knock suffered during Sunday’s win.
Stat Attack
- Rangers are unbeaten in two of three previous meetings with Feyenoord (W1, D1, L1).
- Feyenoord are unbeaten at home in the Europa League this season (W3, D1), cot once.
- Rangers have conceded just three Group G goals coming into this fixture compared to seven at same stage in Group G last season.
Prediction
This is a huge chance for Rangers to cement their progress by securing knockout qualification at their first attempt, although I am expecting Feyenoord to put up a tough fight.
Feyenoord will however pose a stern test because they have lost just once at home all season across all competitions, whereas Rangers have suffered just one away defeat this season in all competitions.
I therefore am expecting a tough game but Feyenoord’s injury issues at the back could very well be their undoing in the closing stages.
Prediction: Feyenoord 1-2 Rangers
Result: Feyenoord 2-2 Rangers
