2019-20 Premier League: Week 13 – Everton vs Norwich

Premier League strugglers, Everton meet Norwich at Goodison Park in a huge six pointer at the foot of the table.

Everton could enter the top ten with victory whereas Norwich will remain in the relegation zone no matter what they do.

Bernard could return from a knee injury for Everton, although he will face a late fitness test.

Fabian Delph (hamstring) and Cenk Tosun (groin) are also doubts but will also undergo late fitness tests.

Jean-Phillipe Gbamin (muscle), Andre Gomes (ankle) and Cuco Martina (knee) are all ruled out indefinitely.

Norwich have no fresh injury concerns but Josip Drmic is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury. 

Christoph Zimmerman (ankle) and Grant Hanley (groin) are close to making their returns, but won’t be risked until they’re match fit. 

Jamal Lewis and Timm Klose are both sidelined with knee injuries with no return in the foreseeable future. 

 

Form

Everton enter this game on a two match unbeaten run for the first time since the opening two weekends of this season, having won away at Southampton last time out.

Norwich enter this match with a single point from their last seven games and no away goals in their last five trips.

 

Stat Attack

• Everton have taken eight points from their last five league meetings with Norwich (W2, D2, L1).  
• Norwich have won just two of their eight previous Premier League trips to Goodison Park (W2, D2, L4). 
• Both Premier League draws between these teams at Goodison Park have finished 1-1 in December 2011 and November 2012 respectively. 
• Norwich’s five away game goalless run is their worst run of away form since a four away trip streak without scoring in early 2016. 
• Everton’s Lucas Digne is the only player from a current bottom half team to create more than a century of crosses, producing 113 crosses. 

 

Prediction

Neither team are in impressive form but clinical finishing looks like it could be key to the result. 

Everton are the better team in attack but Teemu Pukki is coming here after a positive international performance for Finland, which will make Norwich believe more that they can get scoring on the road.

I therefore can’t see an entertaining match here but Everton really should squeeze a win given their quality.
