2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 15 – Saturday

Leeds United take on QPR in a huge Championship clash at Elland Road as the promotion race continues to twist and turn.

A win for Leeds could send them top until Sunday afternoon at least, whereas QPR could potentially leapfrog Leeds and temporarily go second with a win and if other results go their way.

Liam Cooper could start for Leeds after returning from a groin injury last weekend as a substitute against Sheffield Wednesday.

Pablo Hernandez and Jamie Shackleton are also available after overcoming hamstring injuries.

Barry Douglas (knee), Ezgjan Alioski, Adam Forshaw (both hip) and Patrick Bamford (ankle) are all ruled out.

QPR will have Jordan Hugill available after he served an one match ban against Brentford on Monday night, having collected five yellow cards this season.

Yoann Barbet and Matt Smith however are doubtful with knocks.

Form

Leeds are unbeaten in four of their last five games overall, plus five of their six home league games but they have won their last two at Elland Road by single goal results.

QPR have lost two of their last five league games overall as well as from their last five on the road, although they have conceded in all six away games so far this season.

Stat Attack

  • Leeds have lost just one of their last five league meetings with QPR (W3 D1, L1).
  • This fixture was played three times last season with both teams winning at home in the league, whilst QPR won a FA Cup Third Round clash in January at Loftus Road.
  • Leeds have scored twice in each of their last two home league clashes with QPR, winning on both occasions by 2-0 and 2-1 results in May and December 2018 respectively.

Prediction

Neither teams were impressive last weekend so they both will need to raise their game in what will be a tough encounter.

QPR however are solid regardless of whether they’re home or away if not inconsistent so I do see them conceding, although Hugill’s return will give them a huge boost because he has been one of their better finishers.

That might well be the key here if there is a winner but I am going for a score draw.

Prediction: Leeds United 1-1 QPR

Result: Leeds United 2-0 QPR
