Sheffield United welcome Burnley to Bramall Lane in an exciting mid-table Premier League clash.
Depending on what happens elsewhere, Sheffield United could climb to fifth whilst Burnley can go as high as sixth if they take victory.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesSheffield United have no fresh injury concerns as boss, Chris Wilder has a full squad available for selection.
Phil Bardsley could return for Burnley after recovering from a back injury, despite not featuring in any of their last seven matches although he was named on the bench in their last two games against Leicester and Chelsea.
Chris Wood meanwhile is a doubt as he continues to recover from a hamstring strain picked up ahead of their defeat to Chelsea last weekend.
Danny Drinkwater (ankle) and Johann Berg Gudmundsson (hamstring) are definitely ruled out for an indefinite period.
Form
Sheffield United are unbeaten in their last three matches but are yet to take consecutive league wins, draws or defeats this season whilst winning and losing twice by single goal results at home.
Burnley are winless in their last two matches, having previously been on a four match unbeaten run beforehand, although they have netted in all five away trips so far this season
Stat Attack
- Sheffield United have lost four of their last five meetings with Burnley (D1, L4).
- Both teams scored at least twice in their last two league meetings, back in the 2010-11 Championship season.
- Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez and Jack Cork are the two sole survivors from their last meeting with the Blades in January 2011 to still play for the Clarets, whereas no Blades’ player is still at the club.
- United’s Dean Henderson is yet to face a penalty this season whereas Burnley’s Nick Pope has and failed to save.
- Ashley Westwood is the only Burnley player to have played more than one through ball this season, having managed to produce three through balls in ten appearances this season.
Prediction
This will be an interesting game because one hand, we have an on-the-road free-scoring Burnley up against a compact Sheffield United who are tough to break down but don’t score a lot of goals.
I therefore can see either a tight game here or an all-out loose attacking game full of entertainment, although my gut feeling is saying a score draw.
Prediction: Sheffield United 1-1 Burnley
Result: Sheffield United 3-0 Burnley
