2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week Four Roundup

Leeds United remain top of the Sky Bet Championship after an exciting round of midweek fixtures saw more movement in the early hunt for promotion.

Eddie Nketiah’s 81st minute tap-in from Helder Costa’s pass proved the difference against Brentford, as the Yorkshire team stayed top of the table from Swansea who climbed into second after taking a 3-1 away win over QPR.

Fulham moved up to third after trashing Millwall in a four goal rout whilst Charlton fell to a second consecutive draw, after being held to a 1-1 home draw against Nottingham Forest and slipped to fifth.

Sheffield Wednesday split the pair in fourth after a 54th minute cross from Jacob Murphy found Steven Fletcher at the back post, who nodded down for Kadeem Harris to tap in their winner over Luton.

That defeat meant that the Hatters dropped into the bottom three after Middlesbrough saw off Wigan through Britt Assombalonga’s first half header to gift Jonathan Woodgate his first victory as a manager, and move up to 16th.

Huddersfield and Stoke meanwhile still prop up the table after suffering away defeats at Cardiff and Preston respectively.

Back up top, West Brom completed the top six after Kenneth Zohore’s late penalty rescued a point against Reading who initially led through Ovie Ejaria’s stunning screamer into the top left corner.

Elsewhere, Bristol City climbed up to seventh after first half strikes from Andreas Weimann and Josh Brownhill proved the difference, despite Jack Marriott rescuing a late consolation for the Rams.

Birmingham bounced back from a three goal loss at Forest on Saturday by taking a 2-0 home win over Barnsley, as Lukas Jutkiewicz and Alvaro Gimenez scored via a respective header and chip.

Finally, Blackburn made it two consecutive league wins on the bounce after Derrick Williams’ header sealed a narrow win over Hull.
