2018-19 Premier League: Week 38 – Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City

Manchester City head to Brighton & Hove Albion knowing that victory at the Amex will see them defend their Premier League crown.

With a win, City will also become the first team since Manchester United in 2009 to defend their title, but a draw or defeat opens the door for Liverpool to snatch their first Premier League title.

Brighton have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this match as captain, Bruno prepares to play his final match before retiring this summer.

Davvy Propper (hamstring), Jose Izquierdo (knee) and Jason Steele (wrist) are all absent but should be available for pre-season.

Manchester City could have Kevin de Bruyne available after a thigh injury but Fernando is ruled out with a knee injury.

The Brazilian however is set to be available for next Saturday’s FA Cup Final as Benjamin Mendy (knee) and Claudio Bravo (Achilles) remain sidelined.

Form

Brighton come into this game with three draws in their last four matches but haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last nine matches, since beating Huddersfield 1-0 in early March.

Manchester City arrive on a 13 match unbeaten run but have won three of their last four games by a single goal.

Prediction

Man City haven’t been at their best in recent weeks which is a slight worry but like Leicester did in 2015-16, they have grinded out those wins like true champions do although Brighton will be dangerous now they’re safe.

Throw in the fact that the Citizens’ two previous final day title wins occurred at home then this away trip might be a bad omen, and coupled with Brighton’s improved form I can see a draw here regardless of what Liverpool do at Anfield.

Prediction: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 Manchester City

Jake predicts: Brighton & Hove Albion 0-3 Manchester City

Result: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-4 Manchester City, (Manchester City wins Premier League title!!!)
