2018-19 Premier League: Week 37 – Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Newcastle United welcome title chasing Liverpool to St James’ Park in a huge Premier League clash. 

Newcastle could well be playing for 12th come kick-off whilst Liverpool know a win here will return them to top spot before Manchester City host Leicester on Monday evening.

Newcastle are set to welcome back captain, Jamaal Lascelles after he missed last weekend’s draw at Brighton with stomach cramp. 

Ayoze Perez is also set to be feature after being subbed against the Seagulls with a hip injury midway through the first-half. 

Sean Longstaff, Florian Lejeune (both knee), Miguel Almiron (hamstring) and DeAndre Yedlin (groin) are all absent. 

Liverpool could be without Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana as they continue to battle muscle issues. 

Naby Keita is ruled out until pre-season with a groin injury suffered in midweek away to Barcelona.

Newcastle enter this game with seven points from their last three matches and have won six of their last seven home games, of which one came against Man City at end of January. 

Liverpool are on a seven match winning leak streak but have kept three clean sheet in their last five away games.

Prediction

With a Champions League title now unlikely, Liverpool will definitely fancy three points here so expect to see Newcastle doing a lot of defending here. 

The Magpies however have been in impressive form lately and if they are pacey on the counter, I can see a close result here.
