2018-19 FA Cup: Fifth Round – QPR vs Watford

This weekend’s Fifth Round action from FA Cup gets underway at Loftus Road as QPR aim to cause a cupset and dump Premier League’s Watford out.

QPR will hand defender, Joel Lynch a late fitness test as he battles a back injury.

Angel Rangel and Geoff Cameron are close to full fitness but won’t be risked here.

Watford could hand Sebastian Prodl (knee) and Roberto Pereyra (thigh) starts if they can overcome late fitness tests.

Jose Holebas is suspended for this clash after collecting his tenth yellow card of the season in last weekend’s home win over Everton.

Kiko Femenia is still a week away from being match fit after a recent thigh injury whilst Isaac Success is still ruled out with a hamstring strain.

Stat Attack

  • QPR lost the only previous FA Cup meeting between these sides 2-1 in early January 1980.
  • QPR have won two of last three meetings in all competitions and are unbeaten in four of last five clashes at Loftus Road (W2, D2, L1).
  • Watford have gone on to reach the semi-finals in last three seasons where they won at this stage.

Prediction

In last two rounds, Watford have rotated their squad and I can see more changes here but not as many as usual.

QPR will put up a strong challenge but with the Championship play-off race looking unpredictable, their focus lies there so am going for an away win.

Prediction: QPR 0-2 Watford

Result: QPR 0-1 Watford
