After Manchester City saw off Watford, the pressure is on rest of the top five to try and keep pace with wins but Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all face tough away tests.
Other highlights include Everton’s home clash with Newcastle whilst Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham welcome his former side, Leicester City to Craven Cottage.
Burnley vs Liverpool
Embed from Getty ImagesIt’s hard to see how Burnley ca get anything here because they are just poor this season, with no real clinical finishing to chances and least shots made out of all top flight sides.
Liverpool meanwhile are a dangerous side with ten shots already hitting the woodwork from 14 games and know how to grind out results if needed.
Realistically, there is only one winner here in my eyes.
Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Liverpool
Jake predicts: Burnley 1-2 Liverpool
Result: Burnley 1-3 Liverpool
Everton vs Newcastle United
Everton were unlucky to lose on Sunday but have an instant chance at redemption against a Newcastle side who were thrashed by West Ham in their last outing.
If Everton can maintain their solidness but dominate more with clinical finishing here then the Magpies’ defence are really going to struggle against an attack that features Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes coming at them.
The Toffees have also kept clean sheets in each of last five meetings with Newcastle and I can see that becoming six with a comfortable win.
Prediction: Everton 2-0 Newcastle United
Jake predicts: Everton 1-0 Newcastle United
Result: Everton 1-1 Newcastle United
Fulham vs Leicester City
Embed from Getty ImagesClaudio Ranieri meets his other ex Premier League club just three days after Fulham lost 2-0 at Chelsea.
The Cottagers however didn’t disgrace themselves with a solid performance and should take confidence from their attacking performance with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Callum Chambers particular stars from Sunday.
Leicester meanwhile were dominant against Watford so will certainly look to try and continue that momentum but Fulham now play in same formation of 4-4-2, which makes this a tricky one to call.
Ultimately, Leicester are yet to score against Fulham in the Premier League but I can see that ending with a hard fought draw.
Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Leicester City
Jake predicts: Fulham 0-0 Leicester City
Result: Fulham 1-1 Leicester City
Manchester United vs Arsenal (8:00pm)
19 consecutive matches unbeaten across all competitions and Carabao Cup Quarter Finalists, Arsenal are definitely in rampant form under Unai Emery as they head to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
With the top five starting to build a gap, this is really a must win for United but their home form has been inconsistent with four wins, three draws and three defeats across all competitions.
In all honesty, if Arsenal get the first goal then the Red Devils’ best hope would be a point otherwise their 11 home league match unbeaten run will be over.
Prediction: Manchester United 0-2 Arsenal
Jake predicts: Manchester United 2-0 Arsenal
Result: Manchester United 2-2 Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton (8:00pm)
Embed from Getty ImagesAlthough Spurs will be disappointed with the defensive aspect of their performance at Arsenal on Sunday, a managerless Southampton is just the perfect way to shake off any disappointment that still lingers.
Southampton were impressive against Manchester United when on attack but need to tighten up at back when lose ball, if are to not blow a lead. Do that here then Spurs will punish them rather brutally as they don’t have Mark Hughes available to mix things up following his dismissal’s on Monday.
I can see both teams scoring because Southampton have started to show some promise with Stuart Armstrong a particular highlight, but Spurs will be too strong to stop once they hit their stride.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Southampton
Jake predicts: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Southampton
Result: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Southampton
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea
This is going to be a tough match for Wolves with no win since early October but they have done well against three members of the ‘Big Six’ with three 1-1 draws, so if they can take confidence from their recent draw at Arsenal then they stand a chance.
Chelsea however have lost just once this season in all competitions (excluding Community Shield), and have taken a 13-1 aggregate win from last four league/cup meetings between these sides.
I therefore can see the Blues repeating their result from against Fulham on Sunday if Wolves don’t turn up.
Prediction: Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Chelsea
Jake predicts: Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Chelsea
Result: Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Chelsea
