2018-19 UEFA Nations League: Denmark vs Republic of Ireland

Denmark celebrate promotion to League A of UEFA Nations League as they welcome already relegated Republic of Ireland to Ceres Park as Group B4 is wrapped up.

Victory over Wales on Friday night settled the group as the Danes secured top spot whilst Ireland will be playing in Group C come next edition of this tournament in 2020.

Denmark will be without suspended Goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel meaning that Frederik Ronnow is set to start as Huddersfield’s Jonas Lossl. is ruled out injured.

Captain, Simon Kjaer is still absent so the defence will remain unchanged whilst Christian Eriksen might be rested now promotion has been secured.

Republic of Ireland could hand Michael Obafemi a debut start but will be without some key players.

John Egan (calf), Alan Browne (shoulder) and Sean Maguire (hamstring) are all ruled out, whilst Midfielders, Glenn Whelan and James McClean are also unavailable.

Martin O’Neil therefore has drafted in Jimmy Dunne and Manchester United’s Lee O’Connor.

Prediction

As a dead rubber, I am expecting both teams to pretty much treat this like a friendly but Denmark are a strong side at home.

Although Ireland will put up a strong fight here, Denmark will have just too much for them here.

Prediction: Denmark 2-0 ROI

Result: Denmark 0-0 ROI
