2017-18 Europa League Last 16: Arsenal vs AC Milan (Arsenal lead 2-0 on aggregate)

Arsenal enter their second leg with a commanding 2-0 lead against AC Milan at the 2017-18 Europa League last 16 stage.

After winning 2-0 in the first leg, can the Gunners get the job done here and take a step closer towards a Champions League return?

Team news

Alexandre remains out for Arsenal despite resuming training.

Striker, Alexandre Lacazette remains ruled out with a knee injury despite returning to training.

Defender, Shkodran Mustafi is available again after overcoming a groin issue which saw him limp off in Sunday’s home win over Watford.

Defensive duo, Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal could be in frame for the starting eleven, if can overcome a knee and back injury.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is ineligible for this tournament, having played for Borussia Dortmund already in an UEFA tournament this season.

AC Milan are missing full backs, Davide Calabria (calf) and Ignazio Abate (muscle).

First choice right back, Andrea Conti is out with a knee injury, so Sunderland striker, Fabio Borini could fill in at the back.

Arsenal enter this game off the back of a home win against Watford to end a domestic four match winless run.

That is however only their fourth win at home in 2018 plus one draw from all competitions.

AC Milan won their away match at Genoa on Monday to extend their unbeaten away run to seven games.

In that run, the Italian side scored 14 times and conceded three goals.

Stat Attack

  • Arsenal are yet to lose at home to AC Milan in three previous home meetings, despite drawing two games 0-0.
  • AC Milan have lost just one away game in this competition this season, away at HNK Rijeka in final group game.
  • The Italian side have had ten different goal scorers with 27 goals between them, despite entering at third qualifying round. Arsenal meanwhile have 13 different scorers with 20 goals between them in the competition despite entering two stages later.

Arsenal need to be at their best here because if drop the ball like they did here against Ostersund FK, they might not be as lucky.

The first leg and Sunday’s league performances will give the Gunners hope, so can see them taking a draw here given what at stake.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 AC Milan

Result: Arsenal 3-1 AC Milan (Arsenal win 5-1 on aggregate)
