From seaside derby to King Power

This Super Sunday sees a seaside derby as Brighton host Southampton at lunchtime.

Afterwards, attention switches to the King Power Stadium as Claude Puel makes his home bow as Leicester manager against a manager less Everton side.

Brighton vs Southampton

Both teams are firmly rooted in midfield but victory will ease any relegation battle fears for either side.

Since a worrying start to the season, Brighton have lost just two of their last seven league games.

At the Amex, they have however scored more after half time and all of their conceded goals came in that half.

Southampton’s away goals record however is evenly matched in the same department.

Both teams are outclassed by their opposition in every possible stat from shots to fouls.

The Seagulls however outclassed their visitors when it comes to goals per game average. Southampton can however only match their hosts in their away game average.

Ultimately, I think this will be a boring game because of how poor both teams are home/away respectively.

In the end, Brighton will just edge this.

Prediction: Brighton 1-0 Southampton

Jake predicts: Brighton 1-1 Southampton

Result: Brighton 1-1 Southampton

Leicester vs Everton

Ex Southampton manager, Claude Puel makes his home debut as Leicester manager as they seek to move further out of the drop zone.

Everton replaced them down there after last Sunday’s 5-2 loss to Arsenal so will want to instantly get back out.

Puel has a 1-3 aggregate score against the Toffees from his meetings with them last season.

You have to wonder what Everton can do because as demonstrated below, their away stats are dreadful compared to those hosting them.

Everton away per game averages prior to Leicester trip

Other than the red card stat, the Toffees are completely and utterly outclassed away wise.

The Foxes on other hand are better in fouls and shots but have averaged 1.5 home goals, which is same as their visitors’ goal average.

Summing things up, I can see Puel’s reign at Leicester getting off to a great start here with victory.

I say this purely because they dig deeper and that hunger will see them through.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Everton

Jake predicts: Leicester 1-0 Everton

Result: Leicester 2-0 Everton
