Watford striker, Myron Boadu feels that the Hornets “need to show up” after a 3-2 loss at Norwich.
Boadu’s first-half brace fired Watford into a 2-0 lead at half time at Carrow Road, before Ben Chrisene, Anthony Musaba and Paris Maghoma netted second-half goals as Norwich fought back to win a five-goal thriller.
The result left the Hornets still sat 21st in the Championship and two points above the relegation zone.
“We played a very positive first half,” reflected Boadu to watfordfc.com as he is happy to had scored his first goals for Watford in his sixth appearance for the club, following his move from PSV Eindhoven on 1 September on a free transfer.
“I’m pleased to score two goals, but at the end of the day it’s a team sport, and I want to win games.”
The 25-year-old Dutchman proceeded to add that the defeat is painful because of how well they played in the first half, but iterated that his teammates must show up across the entire match rather than just for a single half in each match.
“This one hurts a lot because of how positive the first 45 minutes were. We need to show up on the pitch, not just for 45 minutes but for 90 minutes.”
Watford now face Lincoln City on Tuesday 3 November at 7:45pm at Vicarage Road and Boadu is keen to focus on that clash against the struggling Imps.
“We don’t have time to dwell on the negatives, the next game is Tuesday. We have to analyse the game and focus on Lincoln.
“It’s an important game, a home game. People are going to come and give their hard-earned money again.
“We need to show some personality.”
Boadu’s first goal came from an assist by Iker Bravo and he is pleased with their partnership, as he explained that getting close together when either player are in possession has been key to building that connection in order to create chances for each other.
“We said that whenever one of us has the ball, we need to come close to each other.
“We are two guys who love having the ball at your feet, and it becomes automatic.
“I know where he is, he knows where I am.”
